One fine
morning after waking up around 10’o clock, I just opened my mail box…As usual
there were 100’s of forward msgs Among
them subject of one message was alarming.(ie If you didn't forward this mail to
atleast 10 people ,then you will go to
hell…bla…bla..) ..This kindled my inquisitiveness to open the mail
Here the
story goes…..
Ten guys went
to bar to drink Carlsberg Beer(My dear male friends ,I am not sure if you like
this brand!).The bar owner asked them to pay the bill of Rs100 .They decided to
pay the bill based on their livelihood status.
This is
congruous with the way, taxes are paid in India.
First 4 guys (The
destitute)= Rs 0(Their income level is low)
The fifth guy=Rs
1
The sixth
guy=Rs 2
The seventh guy=Rs
6
The eighth
guy=Rs 7
The ninth guy=Rs 25
The tenth guy(The Opulent)=Rs 59
This was
their customary task. They seemed to be quite happy with this fabulous scheme.
One fine day ,the bar owner wanted to make his regular customers happy by giving some discount .So he informed them to pay the bill of Rs 80.
Now they decided to carve up the profit in the
same way they did for paying the bill early.
The first
four guys cannot enjoy the profit, since if they were permitted to share the profit
, then they should have paid for their CarlsBerg.
The fifth guy
enjoys a discount of Rupee 1. Now he joins the first four guys group.
The sixth guy
enjoys a discount of Re 1.
The seventh
guy saves Rs 2.So its enough if he pays just Rs 4.
The eighth guy
enjoys a discount of Rs 2.So its enough if he pays just Rs 5
The ninth guy
enjoys a discount of Rs 3.He pays just
Rs 22.
The tenth guy
enjoys a discount of Rs 11.He just pays
Rs 48.
Since the
richest guy enjoys maximum profit(Rs 11),other nine guys yelled at him. They
thought that the rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer.
"If the free society cannot help the many who are poor ,then they cannot save the few who are rich"-Kennedy.
So they killed the richest guy.
"If the free society cannot help the many who are poor ,then they cannot save the few who are rich"-Kennedy.
So they killed the richest guy.
The next day
the nine guys went to the bar to drink Carlsberg. After they drank they were shocked
on looking at the bill, since they can’t even pay half of the bill. They just
have forty one rupees (0+0+0+0+1+2+6+7+25=41) which is less than Rs 90.
Moral: If we don't give tax benefits to rich people. They may fly to the most economy
friendly country where they can enjoy tax benefits. Like the remaining nine
guys we cannot survive without the richest. So we cannot ask rich people to pay beyond a certain level. Their existence is important. So my dear friends before blaming government
for not levying high taxes for rich people ,please do remember this Carlsberg Economics.
We have to accept the fact that we wanted capitalism and so we have to bear the pain of the injection ,if we
want to be cured from illness. As much as I'm tempted to relate this to Karl Marx's philosophy and mind numbing economic theories, I'm conscious that I want the victory symbol as well, and thus bid adieu with this.
Cheers,
G’tami.
